Five Education require a behaviour mentor to work in a special school in Yeovil. You will be supporting a SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health needs) class, and working either with the whole class or 1:1.
Responsibilities and duties:
1. Working alongside classroom teachers to support the behaviour of identified pupils
2. Assisting with inclusion activities
3. Assisting with the differentiation of lessons
4. Working 1:1 or with small groups with pupils who have a diagnosis of SEMH.
5. Potentially working with small groups or in a 1:1 setting
6. Be flexible and willing to work with students outside the classroom, this school offers alternative education options including vocational subjects
7. Using de-escalation techniques to ensure pupils are calm and able to access the full range of education offered
8. Providing a positive role model for young people
9. Providing feedback and helping with assessments
Essential Criteria:
1. Patience, flexibility and dedication
2. Confident to support in KS3 and KS4
3. A calm demeanour
4. Good behaviour management skills
5. You will be able to demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
6. Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)
7. Relevant DBS/Police checks*
8. A valid Team Teach certificate isn't essential but would be an advantage
9. Able to work 8.30-3.30, 5 days per week term time only
*Please note, if you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.
