Responsibilities
The RVT-Project Coordinator is responsible for project development and coordination associated with Veterinary Services projects. The role includes providing high-level Registered Veterinary Technician/Registered Laboratory Animal Technician (RVT/RLAT) skills, administrative support, scheduling staff, oversight of inventories, equipment, procedure spaces, and providing technical support. Additionally, supporting the development of SOPs, participating in meetings, and assisting in teaching/training initiatives.
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate from a recognized Veterinary Technician Program
- Maintained Registered Veterinary Technician designation in Ontario (OAVT), and Canada – Canadian Association for Laboratory Animal Science (CALAS)
- Post-secondary training in Project Management preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a RVT with primary duties in anesthesia, anesthetic monitoring, and post-operative care in a variety of species
- 2 years experience supervising staff; in a unionized environment preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Veterinary Technician within an academic research environment
- 1 year of experience in project management
- 1 year of experience working in a customer service role

- In-depth knowledge of animal care and anesthesia
- Experience in responding to and treating sick animals
- Knowledge of regulatory bodies and regulations associated with animal care
