Specialist Speech and Language Therapist Early Years Complex Needs
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about working with preschool children with complex needs. The successful candidate will work with a dynamic and innovative team of therapists and therapy assistants, delivering high quality SLT packages of care to children in our Early Years Complex Needs caseloads across a range of settings.
This post is based in Wycombe and Aylesbury, although the successful applicant will need to travel across Buckinghamshire to meet service needs.
The successful applicant will work alongside professionals within the CYP Team covering a varied caseload including children with physical difficulties, global developmental delay and complex needs. The post requires close collaboration with parents and health and education professionals to deliver a range of evidence-based packages.
Main duties of the job
You will provide specialist clinical input for Early Years children within Buckinghamshire, working as part of our EY Complex Needs Team. You will be responsible for co-ordinating an EY caseload to individuals in a range of early years settings, clinics, and at home.
You will be required to:
1. Use specialist clinical skills to manage a specialist caseload of children with speech, language and communication needs, including those with complex needs, aged 0-5 years.
2. Identify, assess and diagnose communication and/or dysphagia impairments, and select appropriate therapy for effective evidence-based treatment.
3. Support the development of services and resources to develop the skills and confidence of families and professionals supporting children with communication and/or feeding difficulties within early years.

Person Specification
Educational, Qualification and Training
* Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
* Health Professions Council License to Practice
* Registered Member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
* Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the clinical field.
* Membership of relevant Clinical Excellence Networks (CENs)
Special Circumstance
* Able to travel to all parts of the county
Experience
* Evidence of at least 2-3 years recent experience in clinical area of Early Years
* Evidence of recent experience in working with Early Years children including those who have complex needs
* Experience of carrying out assessments and therapy within a multi-disciplinary context
* Experience of implementing AAC
* Experience of delivering training to parents and other professionals
* Evidence of knowledge and experience within paediatric dysphagia

* Evidence of relevant specialist knowledge / skills as a result of experience / CPD
* Demonstrates ability to work as part of an identified team member and assume key responsibilities for the development of that team
