We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Building Control Officer to join our National Highways team in WMROC Unit1, NTOC Unit 3, NRTS Unit 6, Quinton Business Park, B32 1AF.
This role will be based on site.
The Salary for this role is £12.57 per hour.
The shift pattern is - 40 hours per week:
* Monday-Friday
* Earlies 6am-2pm
* Lates 2pm-10pm
* Nights 10pm-6pm
The rotation will be one week of earlies, lates and then nights.
Amey delivers total facilities and estate management services, including planned and reactive maintenance works, cleaning, project and asset management across National Highways England’s extensive and growing operational estate.
You will be responsible for:
* Administration functions – using all Microsoft Office programmes
* Communication with suppliers via email and telephone
* Conduct daily site checks and log action findings
* Prepare and process site paperwork for the attending Engineers/Operatives to undertake PPM’s and reactive works.
* Ensure all contractors, under sphere of control, operate within appropriate SHE processes and client HSE standards
* Responsible for first line implementation of reactive events, such as Fire Alarm activation, power outages, and emergency maintenance callouts.
* Ensure the premises Health and Safety and COSHH compliance aspects are upheld.
* React and execute any general repairs and maintenance duties when required or requested.
* Report all incidents, occupational illnesses, and emergencies in relevant books/documentation.
* General maintenance to both building and grounds including but not limited to sweeping, cleaning, waste management, stocking of tea stations and toilet facilities, monitor & maintain stationery levels and winter gritting.
* This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
* Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.

* Strong administrative skills, attention to detail, filing and record keeping
* Communication Competency: Verbal, Email generation, telephonic with a Teamwork mindset
* Good understanding of Health and Safety, COSHH requirements within a building environment
* Knowledge and ability to undertake basic building maintenance, handyman, security, or janitorial duties
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have time management skills and experience working within a large site area, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required training.
