Position: Part-Time HR Advisor (Schools)
Location: Hybrid - Auxilium House/School sites in Hereford, with some home-working
Starting Date: Permanent (Specific start date based on candidate availability)
Salary: £18,523 - £19,730 actual salary per annum (FTE £30,461 - £32,446) based on a 22.5 hr/wk full-year working pattern, dependent upon experience

Working Hours: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week, with flexibility in working days to be discussed at the interview. This role may be structured as either full-year or term-time plus 4 weeks (42 weeks total). Due to the potential for urgent school needs, applicants should be within travelling distance of Hereford.

Job Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for an HR Advisor (Schools) to provide a comprehensive, high-quality HR support service to schools and academies. This includes supporting clients with complex employee relations casework (via email, telephone, Teams, and on-site), acting as an investigating officer on a variety of employment matters, writing reports, and attending formal meetings. You will be involved in the development of school-based HR policies and procedures, work closely with Trade Union representatives, and design and deliver HR training sessions for clients on various HR topics.
This role involves managing a range of complex HR casework, including disciplinary actions, grievances, sickness absence management, TUPE, redundancy, appraisal, and capability issues. Although experience in the education sector and familiarity with school-specific legislation (e.g., the Burgundy Book, School Teachers' Pay & Conditions, and School Staffing Regulations) is beneficial, it is not essential.

Key Responsibilities:
* HR Advisory: Provide professional HR advice to schools on a full range of HR disciplines, ensuring compliance with employment law and school-specific regulations.
* Employee Relations: Handle and resolve complex HR casework, including disciplinary, grievance, and sickness absence management.
* Policy Development: Lead the development and implementation of school-based HR policies and procedures.
* Training: Design and deliver HR training sessions on various HR topics to school staff.
* Casework Management: Act as an investigating officer, prepare reports, and attend formal meetings as required.
* Legislation Awareness: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Burgundy Book, School Teachers' Pay & Conditions, and School Staffing Regulations.
* Autonomous Work: Work mainly independently, with support from your line manager, to make professional decisions in challenging situations.
* Travel: Regular travel within Herefordshire to attend school meetings, often at short notice. A reliable personal vehicle for business use is required.
Experience & Skills Required:
* Proven experience in managing and resolving complex HR casework.
* Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
* CIPD qualification preferred, or equivalent experience.
* Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
* Experience in the education sector is advantageous but not required.
