What You’ll Do: Crane Refurbishment and Modernisation: Work on overhead travelling cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment to improve performance and extend their lifespan. Installation and Commissioning: Install, inspect, test, and commission overhead cranes, jib cranes, and gantry systems. Preventative Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct regular inspections, identify mechanical and electrical issues, and carry out effective repairs. Emergency Breakdown Support: Respond promptly to breakdowns, troubleshoot electrical faults (including PLC-related problems), and ensure systems are up and running quickly. Detailed Reporting: Use bespoke software to produce professional engineer reports that capture findings and solutions. Collaborate on Complex Projects: Contribute to innovative, high-profile lifting equipment projects across various industries. What You’ll Bring: Specialist Experience: A strong background in overhead travelling cranes, ideally with knowledge of systems from major global manufacturers. Technical Expertise: Competence as an industrial electrician or mechanically biased engineer, with NVQ Level 3 training or equivalent. Teamwork and Leadership Skills: The ability to work independently, collaborate as part of the service department, or lead a team of engineers on various projects. Flexibility and Commitment: Willingness to travel across the UK, work occasional unsociable hours, and lodge away from home when required.
