Job summary
South Tyneside Children and Young Peoples service is a busy and ever changing team offering assessment and intervention to children and young people with mental health issues, learning disability and neurodevelopmental needs.
An exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced clinician to come and work in the team as Clinical Lead offering leadership, clinical supervision and upskilling of the wider team through audit, training and supporting good quality clinical standards.
Main duties of the job
1. Support the current leadership team in maintaining and further improving standards across the service.
2. Support and deputise for the Clinical Manager both internally and at external events with key stakeholders and partners.
3. Support the wider clinical team with robust clinical and caseload management supervision, carrying out clinical audit and supporting the CYPS training and induction programme.
4. The post will also involve direct clinical work and live supervision where appropriate.

Education and Qualification
Essential
* Registered Mental Health Nurse/ Registered Learning Disability Nurse (as appropriate) or equivalent relevant professional qualification
* Mentorship Qualification
* Relevant Clinical Training and post graduate Qualification
Desirable
* Formal clinical supervision qualification.
* Therapy Qualification (i.e. CBT/PSI/Family Therapy).
* Teaching Qualification.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
* Minimum of 3-5 years post qualifying relevant clinical experience
* Proven track record of providing professional leadership within clinical services.
* Experience of MDT working within a Community setting
* Relevant/transferable experience working in a mental health setting
* Experience of carrying out clinical audit
* Experience of giving clinical supervision
* Experience of Positive Clinical Risk Taking and WRAP.
* Experience of local and external safeguarding policy and processes
Skills
Essential
* Demonstrate specialist clinical knowledge underpinned by theory and experience, demonstrating excellent clinical reasoning and decision making skills.
* Evidence of effective positive Risk Taking and Risk Management / Safety Planning.
* Demonstrate a high level of reflective practice and competence in clinical reasoning and decision making.
* Manage, Organise and Prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
* Promote, Develop, and Implement clinical standards and good practices both in care delivery and appropriate record keeping.
* Provide a visible clinical leadership role to the designated staff working within the locality, supporting and engaging staff in providing a high quality clinical service to Users and Carers.
* Review the effectiveness and quality of the care provided by individuals and initiate action that may be required in conjunction with the team managers.
