Nutrient Mitigation Officer£42,708 - £49,764 per yearPermanentFull time with a range of flexibilities, including hybrid working, aligned to our Worksmart arrangementsHoniton About the role An exciting new role has been created to deliver the Council’s recently awarded £4m Local Nutrient Mitigation Fund programme for the River Axe Special Area of Conservation (SAC). Working in our ecology team you will lead on the development and delivery of the River Axe Catchment Nutrient Neutrality Phosphate Mitigation Strategy to ensure that new developments within the River Axe catchment can be delivered in accordance with Habitat Regulations requirements. The role will require identifying and securing projects that will help to mitigate phosphate levels in the River Axe SAC including those areas of the catchment within Somerset and Dorset. You will help to develop a nutrient credit platform for the programme and work towards the implementation of nature-based solutions. Working with a range of partners and stakeholders is also a critical element of the role and ensuring the programme’s success. This post is politically restricted. About you Passionate about wildlife and able to build effective collaborative relationships, you will work hand in glove with our planning services and external stakeholders. As someone who is already experienced in creating and delivering complex projects, you will be practised at adapting to opportunities and demand. You will hold a relevant degree (or similar qualification/equivalent experience) and have demonstrable professional experience in this field of work. Associate (or higher) membership of a relevant professional body, e.g., Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) or Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) is also essential.
