In this role, you will be responsible for managing leasehold sales under the Right to Buy (RTB) schemes, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The post holder may be required to work outside normal office hours from time to time. Who are we looking for? We are looking for someone to join our Neighbourhood Management Team as a Right to Buy and Leasehold Officer within the Housing Services department. You will need experience in Right to Buy (RTB), leasehold or housing management. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will need to be confident working with multiple stakeholders including leaseholders, tenants, Housing staff, other GBC departments (Finance, Legal etc.) and external organisations such as solicitors, mortgage companies and contractors. What is the role? Key areas of work are: Managing and process all RTB sale applications, including dealing with enquiries, preparing documents and communicating with solicitors Provide clear guidance to tenants/leaseholders on the RTB process, eligibility and obligations as a leaseholder Prepare legal documents, lease agreements and service charge estimates Responsibility for Section 20 (Landlord and Tenant Act 1985) consultation process for any Qualifying Works Arranging repairs and maintenance to be undertaken in accordance with tenancy agreements Managing arrears (including negotiating affordable, individually tailored repayment plans, judgements and forfeiture) Providing advice on post-sale leasehold management, including lease extensions Maintaining accurate leaseholder information and updating systems with relevant case information Who is the person? Experience in RTB, leasehold property or housing management, with a good knowledge of leasehold law and housing legislation Excellent numerical skills Ability to work independently Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, especially clear and concise written communication skills including the ability to record information accurately and write formal letters Strong customer service skills with ability to explain complex processes clearly Be able to demonstrate a structured and logical approach to problem solving with the ability to use judgement and discretion when making decisions Ability to manage time effectively and professionally, even when competing priorities and heavy workloads challenge you personally Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail as understanding and using complex financial information is required Be pro-active and highly motivated with the ability to work quickly, accurately and consistently when under pressure in order to achieve time driven outputs Computer literate with experience of IT systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Housing Management systems Committed to equal opportunities Special Conditions: You must have a full driving licence and access to a car in order to carry out site visits and meetings.
