Main Duties of the Job
1. Venepuncture, handling of specimens.
2. Undertaking diagnostic tests and screening procedures within agreed practice protocols (e.g. ECG and cervical cytology).
3. Immunisation and vaccination of children, adults, and travellers.
4. Ear examination and syringing.
5. Wound care, dressings, and removal of sutures.
6. First aid and management of emergencies (e.g. burns, haemorrhage, shock, cardiac arrest). Triage of injuries.
7. Care and maintenance of equipment.
8. To maintain clear, concise, and accurate documentation within the systems provided.
9. To ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed promptly and in a safe manner.
10. To ensure that care given is supported by the best available evidence and local policies and procedures.
11. To deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate.
12. To understand practice and local policies for substance abuse and addictive behaviour, referring patients appropriately.
