Vertu Motors, Gateshead We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Content Writer to join our Marketing department at Vertu Motors plc, one of the largest automotive retailer groups in the UK. This role will be predominantly focused on writing Content for our award-winning ancillary ‘Ventures’ brands, including Vansdirect, The Taxi Centre, PowerBulbs and Wiperblades.co.uk. Creating engaging and informative content, you will play a significant role in the ongoing growth of the business through the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects across these different brands. Whilst the ability to work well within a team is important, closely aligning with SEO, Web, PR and Social, we are also looking for someone who can work well autonomously and enthusiastically, taking initiative to shape these ancillary brands’ content to improve set KPIs, meet objectives and drive performance forward. Within this role, tone of voice, clear brand guidelines and awareness of your audiences are key; you will lean on the wider Ancillary Marketing team and mentorship from Brand Content Manager to agree these. From this, the role must be able to write engaging, professional, informative and clear content that captures customers’ attention, fostering brand advocacy where possible, driving inquiries and increasing the likelihood of conversion. This role will be creating content to serve a variety of purposes, including (but not limited to) product descriptions, reviews, demonstration of services, event landing pages, news and features for the newsroom, customer journey messaging and wider customer communications that fall part of the marketing mix. In short, you’ll be the go-to person for content related to our ancillary brands, who can be relied on to take the lead in an efficient manner. As part of an industry-leading Content, PR and Social Media team, you will have the opportunity to work with these wider functions to maximise the impact of your content and importantly, support the SEO challenge. This role is a fantastic opportunity to gain a vast range of Content Writing experience, all with a major player in the automotive industry, supported by an award-winning Marketing team. Key Responsibilities: Produce a wide range of content including (but not limited to) product descriptions, reviews, demonstration of services, event landing pages, news and features for the newsroom, customer journey messaging and wider customer communications that fall part of the marketing mix. As part of the above, write topical and engaging and informative newsroom content that is reactive to the ever-changing industry landscape. Working with the wider Ancillary Marketing team and mentorship from the Brand Content Manager and Senior Content and PR Manager, agree clear tone of voice, brand guidelines and audience demographics to best target customers through content. Oversee the continued evolution and updating of content across our ancillary brands to ensure it remains relevant. Ensure that all content created is fully optimised for relevant usage, working closely with Web and SEO teams to support the SEO challenge and drive inquiries and increase likelihood of conversion. Monitor KPIs such as SEO ranking, web traffic, bounce rates, Reach and engagement rates to ensure you track against targets and drive content performance forward, meeting set objectives for the month, quarter / year per ancillary brand. Develop relationships with Product Managers within the business to integrate updates where required. Take a proactive lead in generating ideas for future content, bolstering how engaging, informative or useful copy can be. Work with the wider team, including PR, Social and Events to maximise the impact of content created. Be able to travel where required in order to create content for use across the various ancillary brands. This is a hybrid role, based out of our central Gateshead offices and the salary is £27,000. Qualifications and Skills: Demonstrated experience of working in a content writer or copywriter role. Please be prepared to share portfolio to evidence writing in a variation of formats. Previous experience writing customer journey messaging to drive inquiries and increase conversion. Experience in content writing for a true e-commerce business is advantageous. A strong attention to detail with an exceptional level of written and verbal communication skills. An ability to create engaging and informative content for a variety of formats, needs and audiences. Strong organisational and time management skills to deal with the need to work on various projects at one time, with capability to work efficiently to strict deadlines. An ability to work with internal teams and external partners (where required) as well as an ability to work pro-actively. Great knowledge and understanding of using keyword analysis and search engine optimisation. Proficiency with GA4 or equivalent in monitoring and interpreting web page performance data. An interest and knowledge of the automotive industry would also be advantageous.
