As a Housing Navigator what does the role entail:
You would be part of a wider project called Moving Forward, this consists of Y: Mentoring and Y:Move On. Y:Move On works with the young people of Fleetwood/Wyre to provide tenancy support for up to 12 months to help sustain tenancies. Improve relationships with local landlords/housing associations to open doors to more accommodation for young people. Work with statutory services and other agencies to eliminate barriers to support and improve community relationships. YMCA’s goal is to reduce youth homelessness.
Your day will consist of …
• Processing referrals into service
• To conduct Risk Assessments and Risk Management Plans with applicants.
• To engage and empower service users to complete initial self-assessment of needs, including barriers and aspirations, which will form the basis of their individual support plans.
• Travel to young people within their home.
• To engage service users to attend Tenancy support sessions to develop skills in individual areas as defined within self- assessment of needs and support plan.
• Empower service users to engage in services and within their community.
• Empower service users to realise and achieve their full potential.
• Maintain records to a high standard that are necessary for the funding requirements of the scheme
• Maintain records that are necessary for the smooth operation of the scheme.
• Building relationships with community partners, local landlords and statutory agencies.
This job is for you, if…
• You have experience working within a Housing Setting (desirable but not essential)
• You have a good standard of education to G.C.S.E level or equivalent, with grade C or above – or equivalent in Mathematics and English.
• Fully I.T literate in all Microsoft Packages
• You have good communication skills both written and verbal.
• You have a calm personable nature and find appropriate resolutions when handling conflict or difficult issues.
• You are a resilient and confident team worker who can work on their own initiative or work as part of a team.
• Can drive and have access to vehicle with a clean licence.
