Design Approver - FTC 12 MONTHS
Job Description
Summary:
1. Possess current or past Design Approver/Signatory authority on aircraft structures.
2. Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering graduate or post graduate with a minimum 8 to 12 years of experience in Lead Design activities and act as Technical Focal for project(s).
3. Experienced in airframe structure design engineering development.
4. Having experience working on eVTOL aircraft design, build and test related work is an advantage for this position.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Provide design and build services to a customer for a prototype electrical vertical take-off/landing aircraft.
2. Deliver professional design engineering services per week for the stated duration of this engagement providing design and design checking capability.
3. Deliver both design and design check, including the creation and cross-check of model-based definitions within the 3D Experience digital mock-up (DMU).
4. Act as an independent team while coordinating with relevant engineering teams to ensure compatibility and continuity of design.
5. Report via a designated Lead through to the relevant Design Lead for the Programme(s).
6. Attend customer facilities for key meetings and design reviews, with a hybrid working model considered acceptable.
7. Manage the execution of the work packages identified and ensure the convergence of the delivery plans with customer requirements.
8. Define budgets required for the execution of work packages.
9. Coordinate the allocation and execution of technical activities between team members.
10. Define design solutions for new components/assemblies and modifications to existing components (Composites and metallic) according to cost, weight, quality, manufacturability, serviceability, and performance.
11. Provide evidence of design compliance with Customer/Technical specifications.
12. Prepare drawings and other engineering data required for the manufacturing of the product and data submittal to the customer.
13. Produce ECN as required to support manufacturing, customers, quality, and certification.
14. Ensure quality of deliveries, verify, check, and sign off on Program co-workers' engineering drawings.
15. Lead progress review meetings with the customer project team to report on work packages.
16. Report KPI and alignment with budget for work packages in progress and deliveries.
Must Have Skills:
1. Design Approver Signatory on Airframe structure - metallic and/or composite aero structures.
2. Excellent knowledge of Aero structures, Wing, Empennage, and Fuselage.
3. Excellent knowledge of computerized design and analysis methods (CATIA V5).
4. Experience with GD&T (tolerance stack up).
5. Good experience of aerospace Composite (honeycomb)/Metallic materials and manufacturing processes.
6. Customer focused with the ability to establish credibility with internal and external customers.
7. Fair understanding of stress analysis principles.
8. Awareness of A/C industry standards, regulations, and qualification requirements.
9. Good English verbal and written communication skills.
10. Able to work to tight, demanding deadlines and customer demands.
11. Ability to work effectively within an integrated project team.

1. Dassault 3D Experience.
2. Microsoft Office and Teams.
3. Product Lifecycle Management (Windchill).
Candidate must hold UK citizenship.
