My client is an innovative biotech company at the forefront of developing groundbreaking therapies aimed at improving patient lives. As they continue to grow and develop, they are seeking an Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership during this critical period.
Role Overview:
As the interim CFO you will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations, supporting growth strategies, as well as ensuring and improving the financial health of the organisation. This is a key leadership role where you will collaborate with the executive team, investors, and external partners to drive decision-making and efficiently scale the business. The contract duration for this Interim position is between 12-18 months with a hybrid work structure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and accounting.
2. Provide strategic guidance to the CEO and executive team on financial planning and resource allocation.
3. Support fundraising efforts and manage investor relations.
4. Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain robust financial controls.
5. Optimise financial systems and processes to support business scalability.
6. Play an active role in identifying strategic partnerships and business development opportunities.
Qualifications:
1. 15+ years of senior financial leadership in biotech/ pharma space, with 6+ spent in Interim CFO roles.
2. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA, CBA, or other advanced qualifications preferred).
3. Proven success in scaling biotech companies and managing funding and financial complexities.
4. Experience driving growth in high-potential biotech firms focused on therapeutics or technology.
5. Extensive expertise in investor relations, fundraising, and financial strategy to support pipelines.
6. Proficient in financial modelling, budgeting, and managing the financial needs of R&D and clinical trials.
7. Strong track record leading and collaborating with executive teams, boards, and investors.
8. In-depth knowledge of biotech financial regulations, compliance, and funding structures.
9. Experienced in international operations and multi-site management in fast-paced markets.
10. A hands-on, strategic leader with the ability to adapt quickly while ensuring fiscal responsibility.
Compensation:
The salary for this Interim position is between £95,000 - £115,000. The exact compensation will vary based on length of contract, and will also depend on factors including geographical location, experience, and individual performance.
