The Barts Health Education Academy is looking for a committed individual to join the Medical Education Team working as Postgraduate Lead for Medical and Dental Education.

Main duties of the job
The Medical Education team work closely with the Trust Deans, Directors of Medical and Dental Education, Associate Deans and other members of the faculty to deliver Undergraduate & Postgraduate medical and dental education across the Barts Health hospitals, ensuring educational contracts are delivered and the required standards are met.
The Medical and Dental Education team provides a cohesive trust-wide service whilst retaining site-based support across all Barts Health sites. The team will be expected to work collaboratively and pool resources and skills to ensure good practice and knowledge are shared, as required.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery and quality assurance of postgraduate medical and dental, education and training across the Trust in accordance with the NHS Education Contract with NHS England. This includes over 1,1168 placements for postgraduate medical and dental doctors in training. The post holder is required to meet regulatory compliance and Trust standards in ensuring the effective delivery, evaluation and quality assurance of a portfolio of high quality medical and dental education and training for our doctors and dentists in training.

Person Specification
Experience
* Significant managerial experience gained at a senior level, and management of postgraduate medical and/ or dental education programmes at a senior level for at least 2 years.
* Experience of healthcare education and training systems and structures in health care setting
* Experience of the successful delivery or administration of medical/dental education and training
* Experience of managing budgets and financial information
* Experience of coordinating programmes in highly-complex and challenging environments, and managing a complex and varied workload
Skills
* Skilled communicator able to select from, and utilise, a range of high-level negotiating and influencing strategies appropriate to different audiences and environments.
* Able to build consensus amongst varied and challenging stakeholder groups, building trust and commitment and promoting a positive and pro-active partnership approach
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience of managing people, conflict and negotiating change
Knowledge
* A good awareness and understanding of key NHS service strategy, modernisation agenda, planning and delivery processes as these relate to commissioning and delivery of medical education
* A good understanding of medical education and training, including quality assurance processes and systems
Qualifications
* Master level education or demonstrable experience of working within Health Education
