We have just launched a fantastic opportunity to join an established, national engineering client as Regional Engineer (Mechanical) supporting a busy and fast-paced Mechanical & Electrical engineering maintenance team. This position can offer longevity through its long-term maintenance framework supporting one of our key clients on mechanical & electrical infrastructure repairs, maintenance, and improvements throughout the South region.
The Role
We require an enthusiastic and technically astute Regional Engineer with Mechanical engineering experience based in and responsible for covering projects in the South West region, on our Canals & Rivers Trust, Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) infrastructure maintenance. Our framework team is responsible for carrying out repairs and maintenance to assets and infrastructure around the region's Canals & Rivers, mechanical and electrical assets including repair to switch gear, control panels, PLC and SCADA equipment, moving structures, pumps, etc.
Joining the company as a Regional Engineer with mechanical expertise, in the specialist Mechanical & Electrical framework team, you will undertake mechanical project engineering responsibilities, optimizing mechanical processes while working closely with other engineers to solve technical issues quickly and effectively on-site. Duties often include testing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment on Canal and River Trust (CRT) assets.
Apply engineering knowledge and experience to technical problems to support the delivery of services to clients. Required to work on your own initiative under the direction of the department manager to deliver services to our clients in accordance with timescale, quality, and budgetary requirements.
Ensure that the projects allocated to you (or those that you are part of the project team) are managed to deliver their time, cost, and quality objectives. Undertake regular project reviews to monitor overall project performance and provide robust forecasts on costs vs budget where required.
Ensure all information, relevant to the projects that you manage and support, is shared within the business in a timely manner. Provide project engineering expertise to projects, ensuring that all engineering aspects are in accordance with applicable standards and best practices.
Carry out accurate and comprehensive vehicle surveys to allow concept and detailed design to be developed and/or a programme of works/modification instructions to be prepared. Take part in production planning meetings and provide engineering input and support through considered and professional decisions. Other tasks as may from time to time be deemed necessary and are authorised by line managers.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Mechanical Regional Engineer, or equivalent, responsible for multiple projects. It would be advantageous for candidates to have gained experience in multi-disciplinary Electrical and Mechanical projects.
1. Minimum HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering
2. Mechanical and hydraulic system project/maintenance experience
3. Experience working on similar projects such as moving structures, pumps, SCADA equipment, PLCs, etc. would be a distinct advantage.
4. SMSTS or SSSTS, Confined Space Trained, First Aid at Work tickets
5. Full U.K Driving License
