We have a fantastic opportunity for a Pre-works coordinator (Highways) to join our dynamic team in Area 12 based in Tingley. The Pre-works coordinator (Highways) plays an important part inplanning, maintaining, and delivering the highway reactive maintenance programme in Area 12.
Collaborating closely with our client National Highways, Amey takes pride in delivering top-tier Maintenance and Response services, catering to the extensive network across Yorkshire and Humberside.
Our responsibilities encompass all reactive maintenance operations on the trunk roads and motorways, covering an impressive expanse that includes 1,650km of motorway, 476km of dual carriageway trunk roads, 179km of single carriageway trunk roads, and 1,963 structures.
The standard hours of work are 37.5 hrs per week.
You will be responsible for :
Developing and managing the reactive maintenance programme for Area 12, to include working with the operational and commercial teams, developing a programme that is safe, efficient, effective and includes profiled resourcing requirements
Liaising between client and internal teams during the planning and delivery stages. Chairing internal daily calls to understand performance and reasons for non-completion of works.
Tracking progress, incorporating changes and forecasting delivery dates
Coordinating within the wider Planning Team to integrate with the cyclical maintenance programme.
Overseeing works orders ensuring correct closure, documentation, and feedback on asset condition. Rescheduling works to meet contract deadlines.
Engaging with the Client and other key stakeholders through regular communications including weekly / monthly planning meetings and other forums.
Preparing periodic reports, statistics, and answers to enquiries concerning the programme
Ensuring high standards of programming and road space booking are carried out to meet client and contract requirements

Proactive and able to work on own initiative, managing workload and sometimes conflicting demands

Confident in challenging assumptions and asking questions to challenge processes to drive continuous improvement.
Advanced use of the Microsoft Office suite (excel) and preferably but not essential Primavera P6, plus other tools/systems as defined by the project or client.
Ideally, though not necessary, you should have knowledge in highway maintenance operations and NEC Term Maintenance contracts.
Desirable, but not essential, understanding of Chapter 8 Traffic Management and experience in planning and managing roadspace bookings on a National Highways contract.
Desirable, but not essential, Strong electrical knowledge, particularly in street lighting.
Desirable, but not essential, Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering or a related field. In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have experience in planning/project management to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
