An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Speech and Language Therapist with the knowledge, skills and experience to work at advanced level with people with a learning disability and/or autism.
The post holder will provide clinical support to professionals working in the service and deliver expert assessment and intervention. The successful applicant will be registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council, be educated to Masters Level in relevant subject (or willing to work towards) and have expert clinical skills in supporting people with a learning disability. You will have strong leadership and advanced clinical skills and significant experience of working across organisational boundaries, to innovate and transform services.
You will have a passion for person centred, evidence based practice, and a proven track record of driving up standards, leading and promoting research, and leading change.

To act as a Principal Speech and Language practitioner for the Learning Disability Service with responsibility for advancing evidence-based clinical practice in this speciality, particularly across the multi-disciplinary team within the service.
To exercise advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care demonstrated through the advanced competency framework provided through the MSc programme and under the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice: Clinical skills, Leadership & Management, Research, and Education. This will be done in collaboration with AHP, medical and nursing colleagues
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
