A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Business Partner in Novel Nuclear & Special Projects (NN&SP), based in Derby.
The Submarines business is embarking on a remarkable period of growth, both in existing markets and in new ventures. The NN&SP Delivery Business Unit (DBU) has been established to focus on new ventures with the long-term goal of manufacturing and supporting through life a large fleet of micro reactors in high value markets. This new role is at the heart of delivering value to Rolls-Royce plc in the energy transition.
You will be working with the Senior Finance Business Partner supporting the DBU in financial modelling, business case creation, financial reporting and establishing a strong commercially focussed and governed DBU.
The role will require you to work closely with the Heads of Programmes, Commercial and the wider Group Finance Team including M&A, Government Relations, Technical Accounting and Tax.
This role will have a significant profile in a strategically important part of the business, offering a candidate with the right skills, experience and behaviours the opportunity to influence the future long term direction of Rolls-Royce Group.
What you will be doing
1. Conduct detailed financial modelling to assess standalone and integrated business cases, to support business plans for Investment Committee, partnerships, and external funding providers.
2. Lead the financial planning, budgeting and strategic review process, presenting agile driver-based forecasts to the senior management team.
3. Partner with the Heads of Programmes and M&A on bid/partnership proposals, ensuring there is strategic alignment to the Novel Nuclear plan, maturity in the financial basis of estimates, and a sound business case that is acceptable for the terms of the bid/partnership.
4. Embed a culture of cost ownership and control, ensuring all spend is governed and in line with approvals and contract terms.
5. Provide objective challenge to colleagues to help deliver financial commitments and ensure fair and balanced messaging to senior stakeholders.
6. Provide financial training to the newly formed DBU, promoting financial awareness and business acumen in decision making as a key driver in value creation for the business.
Who we are looking for
1. Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
2. Strong proven experience in financial modelling to generate commercial business cases
3. Strategic mindset - The ability to see the bigger picture, with the ability to quickly connect assumption changes to financial outcomes to drive value and growth.
4. Proven experience in working in a newly established business, generating, and presenting business cases for funding.
5. Previous experience of M&A transactions is desirable.
6. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don't currently already have this in place.
