We have an exciting opportunity for a Full time Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic and enthusiastic therapy team based at Newton Abbot Hospital. This role focuses on supporting the delivery of Physiotherapy assessment and rehabilitation programmes for patients admitted to our medical wards, facilitating them to recover and leave hospital as quickly as possible.
If you enjoy working within a rehabilitative setting and have a passion for supporting a home first approach for our patients, then this role could be for you. Our patients present with a wide variety of conditions including general medical, orthopaedic and long-term conditions therefore offering clinical variety.
This post would suit someone with existing band 6 experience who is looking to develop their clinical and leadership skills in a supportive environment. We will also consider applications for this post as a developmental role from suitable Band 5 candidates.
Main duties of the job
You will need to have a broad range of post graduate experience including experience within an NHS health care of the older person setting. You must have excellent communication skills and have a good understanding of hospital discharge processes.
Under the supervision of the B7 Inpatient Therapy Manager you will be responsible for the continued development of the Physiotherapy service within the Newton Abbot community hospital wards, therefore some experience of service development/improvement would be an advantage.
As a senior member of the therapy team having a compassionate approach to both staff and patients is essential. Being comfortable working within a team and being able to work autonomously is also essential for this role.
About us
We are a part of a dynamic, innovative and integrated trust wide therapy team who have a strong focus on person centred care. We work closely with all members of the MDT, to provide a holistic approach to patient care. We work flexibly and successfully as a team to provide the highest level of care to a varied population of patients.
Our staff are our greatest commodity and we value their development and wellbeing as a priority. We offer regular in-service support including access to clinical interest groups and an extensive education service. We actively encourage staff development through a proactive review programme. We have a successful band 5 rotation scheme and encourage a one team approach throughout our Physiotherapy services across our organisation.
