OUR VALUES IN ACTION Care and Compassion Quality and Teamwork Dignity and Respect Openness, honesty and responsibility NHS Borders Rehabilitation Service Mental Health Base: West Brig, Galashiels 18 hours per week An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to work within our Rehabilitation Service based in the beautiful Scottish Borders. This Service supports adults with a range of severe and enduring mental illness in the community, in supported accomodation and within the ward setting. As a Band 6 Mental Health Occupational Therapist you will be working closely with the Band 7 Occupational Therapist and the Occupational Therapy support staff to provide specialist/complex Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to our patients. As a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), we aim to provide long-term intensive community focused recovery care, linking patients with their community, providing opportunity for early discharge from hospital or as an alternative to admission. As a small occupational therapy team embedding within the MDT, your remit is to provide structured Occupational Therapy programmes with a combination of individual and group interventions to maintain or enhance mental health recovery and to ensure we provide equity for all patients. The successful candidate will be expected to provide clinical expertise, leadership and support for third sector partners. This post, whilst highly autonomous will be allied with the Community Rehabilitation Service and wider Occupational Therapy Service within mental health offering excellent connection, support and professional development. The successful candidate will join the existing multidisciplinary team working closely with people with lived experience, colleagues in the NHS, Scottish Borders Council and partner organisations. Please note: the salary quoted is for full-time hours (37 hrs per week). For appointments to part-time hours, the salary will be pro-rata. PLEASE NOTE: We cannot accept late applications so please ensure your application is submitted early NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
