There is an exciting opportunity for a band 5 professional registered clinician to join an expanding team working within CAMHS Early Help Pathway with Children, Young People, and families as a CAMHS Early Help Practitioner. This role will join an already established team within CAMHS service supporting the provision of early intervention services, focusing on assessments and targeted, short-term interventions up to 8 sessions within the I-THRIVE model.
The postholder is responsible for supporting the emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing of children and young people, promoting resilience, prevention, and early intervention in line with the 2015 Future in Mind strategic vision for CAMHS.
This role will include consultation aspects and contribute to the CAMHS advice line as part of the continued provision of Mental Health services for children, young people, and families. The position will be based on a hybrid model of working with access to office/clinical space as well as the ability to work remotely.

Main duties of the job
1. Work as part of the locality facing early help pathway to assist children and young people presenting with emerging mental health difficulties.
2. Deliver evidence-based, targeted interventions (1-1 & group) in a timely manner, implementing Routine Outcome Measures (ROMS) effectively.
3. Provide assessments in a timely manner.
4. Represent CAMHS in multi-agency meetings to oversee the mental health element of a multi-agency plan around a child.
5. Participate in the delivery of training programmes for schools & community services from a portfolio of available CAMHS training.
6. Maintain standards of care to the highest level within available resources.
7. Actively participate in line management with senior & junior members of staff.
8. Liaise effectively with the CAMHS pathways across the city.
9. Develop & maintain relationships with statutory & non-statutory providers.
10. Maintain confidentiality regarding young people at all times.
11. Communicate clearly with children & young people, their families, & all other health professional groups about their health problems.

Job responsibilities
1. Support the emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing of children and young people with a drive for early intervention.
2. Work with CAMHS liaison practitioners to support children and young people with emerging mental health issues.
3. Support the consultation process to the network or directly to the child, young person, and their family.
4. Deliver training to community services and schools.
5. Provide assessments, targeted interventions, and advice & support for children & young people.
6. Direct clinical work with children/young people and their families in schools and community settings.
7. Consult with professionals, colleagues, and parent/carers.
8. Ensure planned interventions are implemented effectively and evaluated using Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROMS) and minimum data set.
9. Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
10. Encourage children and young people to play a part in decision-making about their help.
11. Provide mentorship for students by being a supervisor/assessor.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Core qualification in any mental health modality such as Nursing / Social Work / OT with at least 1 year of experience working with children & young people in mental health.
* Appropriate Professional Registration relevant to professional qualification (i.e., NMC, HCPC).
* Postgraduate training qualification in methods of working with children with mental health problems (e.g., counselling, systemic practice, or postgraduate diploma in child and adolescent mental health).
* Clinical supervisor & assessor training to support students on placements or willingness to undertake this training.
Experience
* Post-registration experience working with children & young people who have mental health difficulties.
* Experience and knowledge of mental health assessments including risk management.
* Experience of effective working with families of different cultural backgrounds.
* Experience of multi-agency working.
* Experience of managing own caseload and being an autonomous practitioner.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
* Time management and meeting deadlines.
* Knowledge of legislation and policies relating to children's mental health.
* IT skills and familiarity with various programmes.
Circumstances
* Ability to travel across Plymouth.
* Ability to work flexibly (hours of work and duties) both as an individual and across Livewell if required.
