Affordable Creative Workspace & Workshop facilities
POW is part of London's Park Royal and Ealing council’s ambition to create an open access workshop for members of the community to be able to get into different crafts such as woodworking, metal work and digital fabrication (CNC, Laser Cutting, 3D Printing).
We are trying to bring down the physical and mental barriers that makers have, from hobbyists to aspiring entrepreneurs, by providing affordable and safe access to space, equipment and mentorship.
We want to empower people with the best tools, equipment and mindsets to really help them excel.
POW’s workshop space currently contains woodworking facilities, clean tech facilities and a spray painting space. We have ambitions to grow our space and machines to offer more in the coming year.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced workshop manager, with a passion for making, to oversee the safety, operations and day to day management of the workshop space and its members. This is a 6 month full time role which takes responsibility across a range of machinery in the exciting, developing and creative area of Park Royal.
The role will include opportunities for further training, new machinery and advisory on expansion of the workshop spaces as well as unlimited access to the tools and machinery for personal projects.
Responsibilities:
* Setting up, operating & maintaining machinery across the workshop
* Providing inductions and safety information to new members
* Helping out on client commissions and projects
* Keeping the workshop safe, tidy and complete for the use of members
* Providing status and production reports of the machines
* Managing workshop inventory, items and stock, including updating systems and suppliers
* Managing workshop storage and facilities
* Support members with advice and best practice during workshop hours
Person Requirements:
* Great interpersonal skills and communication
* Minimum 5 years experience using wood or metal working equipment
* Experienced training others in machine usage, best practice and safety
* Practical knowledge of CNC and/or Laser Cutting would be desirable
* Experienced managing a small team desirable but not essential
* Passionate about helping others learn and make
We Offer:
* 6 Month contract
* Full time, 5 days per week (Monday - Friday)
* £18,000 to £21,000 for a 6-month contract based on experience
