Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced Practitioner Psychologist (Band 8b) to provide expert professional and clinical services to the BMT/CAR-T Programme. The Service is provided at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. The post is 0.6WTE, 22.5 hours per week.
It is essential for this post to hold a Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent), to be a HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling), and be eligible for Chartered Psychologist status with the BPS. Knowledge and experience of applying psychology in medical settings is essential.
Main duties of the job
Post-holders will be responsible for all elements of the Psychology Services related to BMT/CAR-T assessments and treatments including leading psychological care in this setting, direct clinical work, service development/improvement, work with our multidisciplinary staff, supervision/consultancy, staff management, education and research/audit.
Working closely with the BMT/CAR-T Lead Clinicians, our Macmillan Lead Consultant Practitioner Psychologist, and the Head of Specialty, the post holder will lead the development of excellence in psychological care for those undergoing BMT/CAR-T treatments.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Good Honours degree in Psychology with eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) with the BPS.
* Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology accredited by the HCPC.
* HCPC registered as a practitioner psychologist
* Post-doctoral training/experience in specialized areas of psychological practice.
* Evidence of peer-reviewed publications or presentations.
Experience
* Substantial and demonstrable post-qualification experience within clinical health psychology/medical settings.
* Experience of working with a variety of patient groups.
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care.
* Experience of teaching, training, and supervision.
* Experience of working with service users as co-producers.
Skills
* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment.
* Communication & Relationship skills.
* Analytical and judgment skills.
* Planning and Organisational Skills.
Special Knowledge
* Formal Training and supervision of other psychologists.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology.
