Finance Business Partner
Wolverhampton | 6-month contract | £30 per hour (PAYE) | Inside IR35
We are recruiting a Finance Business Partner to join the finance team of a defence client in Wolverhampton. Reporting to the Finance Director, this critical role requires a confident, commercially-minded individual who acts as a key contact for the leadership team. The successful candidate will provide timely, insightful analysis to support business decision-making, maximize returns, and promote a cost-conscious, improvement-driven culture.
Responsibilities:
1. Support month-end activities, reporting on actual performance versus forecast and budget, including analysis and commentary.
2. Prepare business forecasts, annual budgets, and strategic financial plans.
3. Provide financial insights and advice to leadership; generate reports and analysis to facilitate decision-making.
4. Challenge business commitments and support growth initiatives.
5. Assist in preparing and delivering reporting packs.
6. Collaborate across departments to drive improvements and share best practices.
7. Participate in Lean Events, Workshops, and Continuous Improvement activities; seek opportunities for financial and operational enhancements.
8. Develop and build business case models for strategic initiatives, challenging assumptions as needed.
9. Ensure compliance with US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and international standards, maintaining a robust control environment.
10. Support Capital Investment business case development and challenge as appropriate.
11. Coordinate internal and external audit processes.
12. Coach and develop Finance Analysts to strengthen team capabilities.
13. Build stakeholder relationships, ensuring leadership is informed to guide decisions.
14. Support Finance for Non-Finance training initiatives.
Candidate Requirements:
* Significant post-qualification experience.
* Resilient, committed, and proactive.
* Strong commercial acumen, with experience in business cases and investment analysis.
* Experience in manufacturing environments and decision-making contribution.
* Inventory accounting expertise.
* Proven business partnering skills with influence over leaders and colleagues.
* Problem-solving mindset and challenge to the status quo.
* Strong analytical and advanced MS Office skills, especially Excel.
* Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
* Adaptability and decisiveness.
* Knowledge of US and UK GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley legislation (preferred).
* Experience with SAP and HFM.
