Your Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a flexible and well organised apprentice to join our Democratic and Electoral Services Team to support the delivery of local and national elections in Stockport, the publication of the Electoral Register and conducting of the annual canvass. The role will also include assisting with supporting our committee meetings, the school admission appeals service and the delivery of civic events.
About You
We are looking for someone with good communication skills as you will be engaging with members of the public, election candidates, councillors and council officers face to face, via telephone and via email to respond to a range of queries relating to the service. Good IT skills are essential.
You will be expected to work to tight deadlines and be willing to be flexible in your day to day working, prepared to work extended hours where the service requires, including on occasional evenings to assist with committee meetings, civic events and in the busy period leading up to elections taking place.
In addition to achieving a level 3 apprenticeship in Business Administration, the successful applicant will gain a variety of administrative skills and valuable experience of the democratic process, elections and local government, and will develop the necessary skills and knowledge to start on the path of a career in local government, or a related field.
