RPS is currently seeking an Associate Civil Engineer in Aviation. The role can be based at any RPS office location in the United Kingdom and the role allows for hybrid working.

RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple, niche sectors from residential housing developments, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centres, energy and more as we strive to achieve the right balance between form and function when faced with competing priorities around sustainability, materiality, cost and constructability. What you’ll be doing:
This is an exciting role for an individual looking to progress their career as an Associate within our industry leading aviation infrastructure team where we have an excellent reputation, offering a wealth of expertise within the in all sectors. The individual will report to the Associate Director and will directly manage a Design team.
Duties Include:
Collaborate with other Associates within the team, in particular in the Airfield Ground Lighting team
Liaise with the aviation architectural and building services teams
Interface with both Airport clients and Contractor clients
Client facing role, acting as a daily point of contact
Produce design programmes, reports and specifications and monitor progress
Manage concurrent projects
Assist with fee proposals, tender submissions and project interviews
Who we’re looking for:
To be successful in this role you will most likely be experienced in the following:
Civil engineering and pavement (airfield/ highway) design experience
Knowledgeable of airfield infrastructure design
Have an understanding of working in a live airport environment
Project Management experience
Experienced in managing multiple projects/ design disciplines
Have an awareness of commercial and buildability requirements
Experienced in managing a design team of engineers and technicians (CAD)
Civil 3D experience/ knowledge
Knowledgeable in construction materials used in airfield infrastructure
Knowledge of drainage design
Experienced in working in the Design and Build environment
Additionally, you will preferably have the following:
Chartered with Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) with substantial design experience
Aviation infrastructure design experience using CAP 168, EASA, ICAO and military standards
An understanding of how an airport operates (airside operations)
Pavement design using DMG27 and FAA design standards for example FAARFIELD
Awareness of Airfield Ground Lighting and airport infrastructure services
Ability to contribute to fee proposals, tender submission and project interviews
Knowledge of contracts, e.g. NEC suite of contracts and preparation of tender documents
Knowledge of commercial and buildability requirements
Experience of mentoring team members
