An opportunity to join our Legal Team and work closely with both the Legal and Credit Control teams to provide pro-active legal support, advice and assistance.
IN SHORT:
We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our expanding in-house Legal team in Manchester. In this role you will work closely with the business and provide legal support to both the Legal and Credit Control teams.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
* Assist the Credit Control team with breach of contract debt claims as well as work with the legal team on non-debt related litigation.
* Issue claims, deal with defences and any resulting litigation and enforcement.
* Handle insolvency proceedings, creditor services and other related insolvency matters.
* Manage communications between external lawyers and the business as well as correspondence between the business and third parties.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
As a qualified solicitor with experience in commercial litigation, you will be able to manage debt recovery cases and have a strong understanding of legal procedures related to debt recovery.
You will be able to draft a range of legal documents, including letters before claim, defences, witness statements, winding up petitions and any other related court or insolvency documents.
You will also demonstrate:
* Assessing liability and quantum and preparing reports/advice to the business.
* Making and responding to offers and negotiating settlement of both liability and quantum as and when necessary, subject to supervision.
* Experience managing own case load from end to end.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Instruction of counsel and experts where appropriate.
* Strong analytical skills to assess financial situation of debtors and recommend appropriate recovery strategies.
* Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to adapt your style to achieve commercial aims.
* Effective communication skills with ability to liaise with internal stakeholders and external third parties in a professional manner.
* Excellent attention to detail.
