About the Role: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at Mill School, working collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and external agencies to support student welfare and encourage positive learning behaviours. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in promoting the academic progress, well-being, and personal development of our students while aligning with the school’s values and vision. This role requires a compassionate individual who can advocate for our school’s ethos, collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, and provide tailored support to students in line with their individual needs. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Head Teacher, colleagues, parents, and carers to ensure that every student receives the best possible education and care. Key Responsibilities: Support students’ general academic progress and well-being, working closely with teachers to enhance their learning. Develop and implement bespoke interventions for students in partnership with teaching staff. Provide in-class support for individual students and small groups. Attend school events and engage with students and parents both during and outside regular school hours. Participate in home visits and ensure the celebration of students' birthdays within your form group. Contribute to the management of student behaviour and follow Mill School’s Behaviour Policy. Lead and support social activities and educational trips, including residential visits. Assist with the administration of medication as per school protocols. Maintain accurate student records, participate in Annual Review meetings, and provide oral and written assessments and reports. General Care and Support: Offer care and support tailored to students' needs, as outlined in their Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs). Ensure students’ health and safety while following safeguarding policies and providing appropriate role modelling. Engage with students professionally, helping them to develop positive behaviours and attitudes towards their learning. Additional Responsibilities: Support extended learning programs such as work placements, college visits, and extracurricular activities. Attend and support students during offsite visits or external agency meetings as needed. Participate in ongoing personal and professional development through training and performance reviews. What We’re Looking For: Experience in supporting students, particularly those with special educational needs, is highly desirable. A genuine passion for working with children and promoting their well-being. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers, and external agencies. Strong communication skills and a proactive, caring approach to student support. Flexibility to participate in after-school activities, offsite visits, and other school-related duties.
