We have operating theatres across North and East Devon, including 4 standalone community sites, which provide the opportunity to enjoy a varied caseload with state-of-the-art technology.
You could be caring for patients before during and after some complex operations including robotic procedures, Vascular, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Spinal, ENT/Maxillo-Facial, Colorectal, Upper GI, Urology, Ophthalmology, Paediatrics, Plastics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
We also staff a /7 Emergency list and Obstetrics theatres, so if you enjoy dealing with the unexpected, we have just the job for you.

Our Internship Programme - Unlock your Nursing potential
Are you currently employed at the Royal Devon Eastern Services, with an internationally recognised nursing qualification, have previous experience in the operating theatre and looking for support with becoming registered in the UK? (NMC)
We are launching our second Cohort for internship programme to support nurses registered outside of the UK to become UK registrants with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) in our Operating Theatres in Exeter.
This is a -week customised programme to support your transition into a Band 5 role when you have fully converted your registration - more details below, along with the eligibility criteria.

Please note that this opportunity is only open to Theatres. You do not have to be currently working in theatres, but successful candidates ideally have some experience within theatres and will undertake tailored theatre training and be allocated to a theatre setting once registered. We plan to offer more opportunities across other areas in the future, so watch this space!
About the role in Theatres
As a Registered Nurse working in Theatres, you will play a crucial role in providing clinical leadership within your theatre. You'll ensure that patient care and services meet the highest standards set by the NMC, statutory requirements, and our Trust's own rigorous benchmarks. Your responsibility will include overseeing the implementation of individual care programs for patients in the perioperative and post-op period as part of the theatre team, fostering an environment of excellence in patient services.
If you are passionate about working in Theatres and want to start your nursing career within the NHS then this programme will support you to gain NMC registration in the UK.

2. -Week internship programme post-interview: Successful candidates will be offered a comprehensive -week internship programme. This programme is specifically designed to balance training and clinical work, providing an immersive experience to bridge the gap between your role as a Healthcare Support Worker (or similar) to become a competent, confident nurse equipped to face the challenges of the UK healthcare environment.
3. Ongoing pastoral support: Recognising the challenges of adapting to a new professional and cultural environment, we provide continuous pastoral support throughout your transition period and beyond. This support aims to assist you in navigating the complexities of the healthcare system, managing difficult and stressful situations, and addressing any personal or professional challenges that arise. Our dedicated support team is committed to ensuring you feel fully supported, both professionally and personally, as you make this significant career and life transition.

Eligibility criteria
If you are interested in applying you must meet the following criteria:
7. Be currently employed by the Royal Devon, Eastern Services;
8. Have successfully completed your probationary period with the Trust;
9. Started the NMC registration pathway;
10. Passed your Computer Based Test (CBT);
11. Possess evidence of an NMC-recognised English Test (OET or IELTS), or completed Supportive Information from Employer (SIFE).
12. You are probably working in a clinical role currently, such as a Healthcare Support Worker.

Olympia Mytakdiou -> Christoula Spyropoulou -> Working Pattern: It will be full time hours for the duration of the internship programme, but part-time opportunities will be considered once completed and qualified. However, please bear in mind that 3 x hour and 1 x 9 hour shifts will be required.
We understand the importance of work-life balance and are pleased to offer flexible working arrangements to meet our colleagues' needs. While the internship program must be completed on a full-time basis to ensure immersive and comprehensive training, we can consider accommodating part-time work arrangements after the successful completion of the programme. This approach allows you to integrate fully into your new role while maintaining the flexibility you need. If successful you will need to be available for the whole -week programme to ensure consistency in your learning and development. We are unable to offer extended annual leave during the internship.
