We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Radiologist to join our growing team at Bedford Hospital, which merged with Luton & Dunstable Hospital in April 2020 to form the Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This post is to support the growing workload and service development. The role is based at Bedford Hospital, with potentially one day a week at Luton.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Consultant with experience in all aspects of General Radiology, with interest in Musculoskeletal Imaging. They will support the rapidly increasing demand for MSK imaging, working with the Orthopaedics department but also supporting the Rheumatology and Plastics and Reconstruction services. A second subspecialty interest can also be supported and encouraged within the department.
There may be a requirement of some cross-site sessions to cover Luton and Dunstable Hospital in future, which could be done remotely through the unified PACS, or in person.
The role is centred on maintaining the highest clinical standards in managing all patients presenting to the hospital, with a particular emphasis on delivering a high-quality imaging service focused on Musculoskeletal imaging. Collaboration with colleagues in the Imaging Department is essential to manage all patient referrals to the Trust, while also contributing to the department's general radiology work, including a 1 in 12 on-call rota. The candidate will provide crucial support to radiographers and sonographers and will be actively involved in the teaching and training of specialist registrars, junior medical staff, nursing staff, and medical students. Participation in both departmental and Trust-wide Clinical Governance and audit activities is required, along with a strong commitment to continuing professional development .
