About the Role
Reporting to the SARC Manager, the SARC Patient Crisis Worker (SPCW) will play a vital role in coordinating various aspects of SARC activities. The SPCW will undergo training to fulfill the responsibilities of the role, which includes providing support for the Forensic Examination Service at the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC).
Location: The Beech House, Kent
Additional locations: Across the South East
Salary: Retainer £45.84, Attendance £12.21 per hour
Shift Pattern: 8/12 hours, Days, nights and weekends
Rota Patterns will be: Monday to Sunday - 8am – 8pm & 8pm to 8am Monday to Saturday (12 Hours)
The role of Patient Crisis Worker is critical in providing victims of sexual assault with the dedicated support and care required. Acting as the advocate for patients who attend the centre, you will empower service users to feel in control and be able to support during the forensic process and administration to manage patient care pathways and day to day service delivery.
Key Responsibilities will include:
* Providing telephone information and support to patients and their families.
* Managing the administration and coordination of visits by adults, children, and families.
* Supporting the patient on their journey through the examination.
* Assisting with the use of the colposcope during the examination procedure.
* Delivering advocacy support to patients and their families, ensuring a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
* Maintaining high standards through Anti-Contamination processes and measures.
* Working closely with the SARC Manager to recruit and train zero-hour SPCW.
* Supporting outreach programs to raise awareness of SARC services.
* Assisting in achieving and maintaining UKAS accreditation for the service.
* Supporting the implementation and ongoing delivery of ISO 15189 and the FSR Code of Practice.
* Conducting follow-up calls, regular check-ins, and coordinating onward referrals, such as housing support.
The SPCW will offer sensitive and non-judgmental support, empowering service users to regain control, rebuild their self-esteem, and progress positively in their recovery journey.
Minimum Requirements:
* Experience working in a supportive or customer focused environment.
* Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality.
* Applications are invited from females only due to the nature of the Sexual Offence Examiner role.
* A UK driving license and access to a vehicle is required.
* Advanced DBS and level 2 Police vetting will be required.
