Birmingham City Women's Football Club is seeking an inspirational U16 Academy Head Coach to lead, develop, and support players in the Academy pathway. This role focuses on guiding players through their transition into potential first-team players, with a primary aim to help them reach their full potential within a professional and high-performing club environment.
As the U16 Academy Head Coach, you will be a key advocate for women’s football, nurturing talent in a safe, inclusive setting that inspires players to thrive both on and off the pitch.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coaching & Player Development: Plan, prepare, and deliver coaching sessions aligned with the Academy’s development programme. Encourage a culture where players are actively involved in their learning, asking questions and seeking feedback for continual improvement.
2. Matchday & Squad Management: Take responsibility for squad selection for all matches and friendly fixtures. Ensure all Academy games are conducted with a development-focused philosophy, keeping players, parents, and carers informed and engaged.
3. Player Reviews & Development Plans: Work with individual players and their families to create development plans, providing feedback during player reviews and training sessions. Support players’ mental wellbeing, liaising with Player Care and Education teams.
4. Collaboration: Work closely with the Youth Development Phase Lead, Academy Lead, and the wider coaching team to deliver and implement the Club's playing philosophy. Engage with multi-disciplinary staff regarding player development, injury prevention, and rehabilitation, as well as working closely with wider staff and being a point of contact for parents.
5. Safeguarding & Welfare: Ensure the wellbeing and safety of players and staff is always a top priority by collaborating with the Safeguarding Manager.
6. Flexible Support: Assist the U21 coaching staff as required and contribute to future squad planning and player movement.
Person Specification:
1. UEFA B Licence
2. Introduction to First Aid in Football
3. Experience working in a football environment, preferably in coaching senior football.
4. Experience in a multi-disciplinary environment, with a focus on player development.
5. UEFA A Licence
6. Emergency First Aid in Football
7. Experience within women’s football, particularly in youth development.

Terms of Appointment:
1. Position: Full-time, Permanent.
2. Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with evening and weekend work required.
3. Offer is subject to a successful DBS check.
4. Must be able to travel with teams to matches, tours and other events.
5. Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
