As a Senior Credit Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in assessing and evaluating creditworthiness, conducting financial analysis, and providing recommendations for large ticket, structured transactions, and dealer stocking line requests. As a Senior Credit Analyst, you will deliver timely commercially balanced credit recommendations within stated credit parameters to colleagues and the credit committee. You will focus on large ticket structured transactions which will typically be between £1m and £30m.
Day to day:
The role will be responsible for analyzing the level of risk associated with credit requests from clients/suppliers and contributing to their subsequent approval, to support the company in achieving the expected Risk Loss Targets.
The activities you will be involved in relate to credit and risk management, particularly in highly complex trading structures (customized payment conditions, agreements, proposals).
Specifically, you will be responsible for:
* Independent management and processing of credit applications, including balance sheet analysis, generating and evaluating financial ratios, using internal tools to evaluate a customer’s financial status, while adhering to internal and external regulations.
* Prepare Credit Application Report (CAR), make decisions regarding credit applications of local end customers, vendors, or resellers within own credit authority, as well as preparation and recommendation of credit requests for higher-level decision-making, including committee level.
* Gather information about customers/suppliers, using internal systems and processes, verifying their completeness and currency.
* Monitor, coordinate and advise on credit and risk profiles, corporate and external policies, regulations and sales mandates, in collaboration with the various departments involved.
* Prepare structured financial analysis via ratio and peer group comparison, understanding the risks surrounding types of assets funded and the ability to realize assets.
* Contribute to the development of local policies and regulations on credit and risk management.
* Provide information, support, training and align front and back office colleagues on credit and risk management.
* Find workable solutions to closing new business opportunities.
* Work closely with colleagues across the business – Sales, Collections, Asset Management, Legal and Operations.
* Identify ways in which credit processes can be improved to deliver efficiencies and implement changes.
* Assist sales and deal negotiations by undertaking site visits to vendors and customers.
* Maintain an interest in the wider economic environment and changes in market/asset sectors in the UK & Europe.
* Have a good understanding of compliance requirements in the UK.
Minimum Requirements:
* Have a minimum of 5 years of experience of underwriting/analyzing transactions in a wide range of sectors within either a banking or asset finance business.
* Be proactive and well-prepared in risk and credit matters.
* Possess knowledge of the key systems and processes related to risk and credit management.
* Have excellent communication skills.
* Have experience in analyzing and executing large value structured transactions between £1m and £30m.
* Have experience of working closely with Relationship/Account Managers in Sales teams and helping them to structure large deals, identifying key risks within a deal and structuring accordingly to mitigate these risks.
* Have experience in funding both hard and soft assets.
