About the Role:
We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Bristol Free School, who are seeking a DT Technician to join their welcoming and creative Design Technology department. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied and practical role supporting students and staff in an inspiring and well-equipped DT environment.
Working under the guidance of the Head of DT, you’ll support the smooth day-to-day running of the department by helping to prepare materials, maintain resources, and ensure a safe and efficient learning space. While the role is primarily focused on Product Design, there will also be opportunities to assist with Textiles and Food & Nutrition as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, organise, and maintain tools, materials, and equipment for practical lessons
Support teachers and students during lessons, ensuring safe use of tools and machinery
Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant workshop environment
Assist with the creation and setup of demonstrations and displays
Monitor stock levels and order supplies when necessary
Contribute to a positive learning environment where creativity and innovation are encouraged
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience working in a school workshop or similar practical setting
Be confident using hand tools and workshop machinery (training can be provided)
Demonstrate good organisational and time-management skills
Be proactive, reliable, and a strong team player
Have an interest in Product Design, with some knowledge of Textiles and/or Food an advantage
Have a strong understanding of health & safety procedures in a school environment
