About the role
The Finance Director is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring financial stability, compliance, and strategic growth. This role requires strong leadership, financial planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement to drive business success. The Finance Director will work closely with senior management to develop financial strategies, manage budgets, and optimize financial performance.
Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership:
* Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s business goals.
* Provide financial insights and recommendations to the executive leadership team.
* Drive financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
* Support investment decisions and identify opportunities for business growth and efficiency improvements.
Financial Operations & Compliance:
* Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
* Manage financial risks, including cash flow, investments, and debt management.
* Ensure timely and accurate tax filings and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
* Lead the internal and external audit processes.
Budgeting & Cost Management:
* Develop and oversee company-wide budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial sustainability.
* Monitor financial performance and provide variance analysis with recommendations for corrective actions.
* Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
* Implement robust financial controls and procedures to safeguard company assets.
* Assess financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
* Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards and financial best practices.
* Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
* Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of finance staff.
* Ensure effective collaboration between finance and other departments.
Stakeholder Engagement:
* Act as a key point of contact for investors, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies.
* Present financial reports and strategic recommendations to the board of directors.
* Maintain strong relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial partners.
Required Qualifications
* Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, and CIMA.
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior financial management role.
* Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
* Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
* Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
* Experience in industry-specific experience if relevant.
* Knowledge of international financial regulations and tax structures.
* Proven ability to drive financial efficiency and business transformation.
* Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, and Economics in a related field.
