The surgical coordinator is responsible for the timely and efficient scheduling of patients designated for surgical treatment by POA physicians. Primary work assignments include the coordination and scheduling of all preoperative, surgical and post-operative resources consistent with established POA patient care protocols and in compliance with surgical facility policies and procedures. The coordinator shall assure the timely completion and collection of all patient history, pre-operative testing results, insurance authorization and patient consent forms; and, communicate relevant findings to the patient, POA operating surgeon, and surgical facility scheduling/provider teams. Responsibilities shall also include optimizing the utilization of surgical block allocations by applying accurate case time estimates and minimizing case cancellations due to preventable errors.
Qualifications
* Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
* Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
* Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude essential.
* High School Diploma
* Prior medical office or hospital experience, two years preferred
