We are looking for an enthusiastic clinician who has experience & expertise working with complex cases within the area of acute mental health care. Applications are invited for a full time Band 8A Clinical Psychologist/Applied Psychologist for Crisis Resolution & Home treatment team. The acute service comprises of CRHT across 2 bases (Winchester and Basingstoke), Male & Female acute ward, 6 bed MOD ward and one PICU. You will be responsible for providing a qualified highly specialist clinical psychology service to clients of the Acute Care pathway in the North & Mid Hampshire Area.
You will join a team of dynamic, supportive and passionate qualified & pre-qualification clinicians who are committed to providing trauma informed care. You will provide specialist psychological assessment & therapy individually & through group programmes as well as offering advice, consultation & training to staff in the team. We have adopted the innovative model of Comprehend, Cope & Connect (CCC) in providing psychological therapies within acute care, alongside other evidence based models and strive to continuously evaluate our practice to maintain our learning and development.
You will work closely with the leadership team within the Acute care pathway & will join a psychologically minded multidisciplinary team to create a culture supporting the recovery of adults with severe & acute mental health difficulties.
Main duties of the job
As member of the multi-professional team, the post holder will be required to work as an autonomous, independent practitioner responsible for their own work and interventions and for the interpretation of agreed guidelines and policies in providing a highly specialist Psychological service to individuals referred to the CRHT. This may include working with families/ carers or other identified person where appropriate. Individuals will primarily present with complex psychological problems that would benefit from the services of the CRHT and wider acute and crisis care pathway.
They will undertake complex assessments, offer consultancy and provide expert advice to CRHT colleagues, and the wider clinical multi-professional team, other agencies and non-professional carers and provide specialist treatment for complex cases. This will require them to plan and prioritise their own clinical workload.
The post holder will provide specialist supervision for trainee psychologists and qualified psychological therapy staff and provide psychological guidance and supervision for multi-professional clinical colleagues. They will engage in research and development, cultivate and encourage a research ethos within the wider clinical team. They will utilise research skills to contribute to policy or service development as necessary.
The post holder will place an emphasis on co-production and demonstrate an attitude which respects and values clients' and their carers and the core values of the trust.
