Job overview
United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) are seeking a highly motivated Estates Technician who will be based in the Estates department at Pilgrim Hospital Boston. The post holder required to play a proactive part within the Estates Technical team to meet Trust objectives in a safe, cost effective, efficient manner in compliance with legislation and good practice.
This role is subject to deferment, candidates will start no earlier than 01/08.
Main duties of the job
As an Estates Technician you will report directly to the Estates Officers and Estates Manager and provide effective technical management and maintenance support for Estates & Capital Services staff in Estates Operational Maintenance, Additional Works, Capital Backlog and Maintenance Services, supported by performance management arrangements. You will be encouraged to be proactive in team working, you will be supported as a team member and you will encourage team working, by providing the varied skills that support the department’s philosophy and flexible working.
You will be expected to have a sound knowledge with the applicable skills in an engineering related discipline. Training and development will be available to ensure your skills become transferable and developed upon for your personal progression and support the Trust needs.
The post holder will be appointed as appropriate to Competent/ Authorised Person roles in keeping with requirements laid down in Hospital Technical Memorandums (HTM) and Health and Safety documentation.
You will be responsible for the delivery of maintenance activities, compliance information, technical support, Audits and remedial activities within your own area of expertise.
The post holder will be required to participate in the Estates & Facilities Directorate emergency on-call rota.
Person specification
Qualifications
* A good standard of education
* BTec Level 4 HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline, or equivalent portfolio of technical built environment engineering services courses through recognised providers and associated work-based projects /work
* Completed recognised Apprenticeship with relevant experience gained over a number of years
* Specialist technical training in plant, infrastructure and building services.
* Additional Hospital Engineering related certified training such as AP training
Experience
* Experienced in working in a demanding customer driven service
* Experienced in working to deadlines
* Demonstrable experience of making judgements on estates and maintenance issues taking into account legislation and H&S
* Demonstrable experience within a similar role within a similar type of organisation, preferably Healthcare setting, or good knowledge of Healthcare environments and risks
* Management of contractors and consultants with disciplinary team in Healthcare premises
* Experience of working in a large organisation
* Experienced in issuing permits to work and contractor management
Skills
* Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework
* Demonstrable problem-solving skills
* Knowledge of statutory maintenance and inspections for plant and building services
* Able to work safely and have a sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in the built environment
* Ability to work at all levels from Management Executive to front line maintenance tradesman
* Supervise engineering maintenance team, oversight of contractors
