We are seeking a Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry (or a Consultant Psychiatrist with a special interest in Forensic Psychiatry) to join our fully staffed Consultant workforce at the State Hospital, Carstairs, South Lanarkshire.
As the Responsible Medical Officer, you will provide clinical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, delivering care and treatment for up to 20 patients. You will work alongside a supportive and experienced group of Consultant colleagues. There is also scope for sessional input with partner organisations, with whom the State Hospital maintains Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
The role offers excellent opportunities to develop teaching and research interests, supported by the hospital's strong connections with various academic and research institutions. The State Hospital takes pride in its well-established ethos of research and clinical effectiveness.
Our hospital provides high-security psychiatric care for Scotland and Northern Ireland and is recognised for delivering exceptional treatment while respecting the dignity and individuality of our patients. Services are delivered within a state-of-the-art facility completed in 2011.
As part of the Forensic Network, the State Hospital plays a vital role in the national planning of forensic services. We are committed to strengthening ties with the wider forensic environment and service providers. Flexibility is available regarding clinical sessions for external work.
Experience working in female forensic psychiatry services would be desirable.

Salary - £107,144 - £142,369 per annum (pro rata) with additional High Secure RMO allowance amounting to 15% of point 5 of the consultant salary scale (£17,875.44 High Secure RMO Allowance per annum (pro rata))
Hours Per Week - 10 PAs
Contract Duration - Permanent (Interest from those wishing to work less than full time is welcomed)
