An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Wyre Council at a time when waste and the environment are at the forefront of legislative change and authorities are reassessing their services to deliver maximum environmental benefit.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of the council’s waste management service in partnership with our external provider, including household residual collections, compostable organic collections, recycling collections, bulky household collection and clinical waste. The role also includes management and responsibility for the environmental enforcement service and the external kenneling and public convenience contracts.
The post holder will take a lead role ensuring quality services are delivered in an effective, efficient manner within budget and engaging with stakeholders on service issues and promotion of the waste hierarchy. You will play a key role in service development in response to forthcoming changes under the Environment Act, evaluating options, updating contracts and reporting to Members.
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and experience of managing local authority waste management contracts and proven project management, communication and engagement experience allowing them to design and deliver operational schemes and engagement activities. With a good standard of education, the successful candidate will have enthusiasm and drive to encourage more sustainable waste and resource management to assist the council delivering its climate change action plan.
