Role Purpose: The Lead Physiotherapist will lead on the management, planning and delivery of the day-to-day physiotherapy, collaborating with Head of Medical on rehabilitation planning and delivery for optimal management. Working closely with the Head of Medical, Performance and Technical Staff, the Lead Physiotherapist will play a key role in player availability and development. This is a new position within the business, so the responsibilities are not set in stone. We need someone who can jump in, get things done and work with the senior leadership team to shape the future of the club. Main Duties/ Responsibilities 1. Medical Leadership and Management: · Lead and manage the day-to-day delivery of Physiotherapy services to all First Team players 2. Player Care and Injury Management: · Work closely with the Head of Medical and provide direct support with the acute management, treatment, and rehabilitation of all player injuries. · In collaboration with the Head of Medical create and manage individual rehabilitation plans for all First Team players. · Conduct pre-season and mid-season medical screenings, highlighting areas of risk to the medical and performance team. 3. Collaboration with Key Stakeholders: · To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team including physiotherapists, physical performance coaches, player care, analysts and coaching staff to optimise and maintain players physical performance · Support the Head of Medical to liaise with external healthcare providers, specialists, and club stakeholders as needed. 4. Data and Innovation: · Stay updated on advancements in sports medicine and implement cutting-edge practices. · Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation of all medical assessments and treatments. 5. Emergency and Match Day Support: · Be present at all training sessions and matches (home and away), providing immediate medical support when necessary. · Ensure up to date knowledge and execution of emergency action plans and department procedure documents. 6. Other ad-hoc duties as assigned from time-to-time by management Club Accountabilities 1. To behave in a manner consistent with Club values and policies What we are looking for Qualifications and Training Any specific qualifications or technical requirements listed here will be mandated by league and/or governing body rules Essential · Chartered Physiotherapist · Registered member of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) · Have appropriate medical indemnity to reast/advise BWSL/BWC players · Full, up to date Advanced Emergency First Aid qualification; this should be Level 5 ATMMIF · UKAD Clean Sport Advisor · FA Safeguarding Children Desirable · MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine · Postgraduate qualification in Sports Medicine, Physiotherapy, or from some or all of a range of different clinical skills e.g. Manipulative Therapy, Movement Dysfunction Assessment, Real Time Ultrasound, Soft Tissue Mobilisation/Manipulation, Acute Injury Management, Acupuncture · Up to date CPD, in line with professional body expectations · Previous experience in women’s football or a high-performance sport environment · Familiarity with FA, UEFA, and FIFA medical regulations. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential · Extensive experience in sports medicine, preferably within elite-level football. · Proven track record in managing a multidisciplinary medical team. · Strong knowledge of sports injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. · An up to date understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures · Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines · Ability to adapt to changing circumstances · Displays a high level of discretion and maintains strict confidentialit Desirable · Experience and knowledge of the women’s game, including governance structures, player pathways, required coaching behaviours, technical and tactical differences between men’s and women’s football, coaching environment Characteristics · Passionate about women’s football and broader women’s sport culture. · Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to deal with matrix stakeholders & ambiguity. · High standards of personal integrity and EQ. · Comfortable and able to work on own initiative · Has a learning mindset; is keen to continue their self-development and keep up to date with best practice and learning opportunities · Continually seeks to improve efficiency and performance · Ability to build relationships and collaborate with others to achieve the best outcome · Seeks out and embraces new ways of thinking and working – not afraid to fail. · Strong work ethic, with the ability to work evenings and weekends London City Lionesses is committed to safeguarding, health and safety, and equality, diversity, and inclusion.
