Axcis is working with a fantastic SEMH school in Christchurch, Dorset, who are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to work with primary SEMH pupils who have an EHCP of SEMH or ASC. Many pupils also have a history of trauma. The school is a specialist SEND school, well-resourced, with a superb teaching team and excellent facilities that incorporate both outdoor learning in beautiful and tranquil grounds, as well as in-class support.
You'll be joining a team of TAs working with SEMH pupils who have a history of trauma and anxiety. The school seeks staff who are warm and nurturing, with experience working with pupils facing these challenges. You will work with many pupils who experience anxiety and find it difficult to trust and build relationships, so a calm and patient nature is required.
The school is a lovely place to work, offering a supportive environment and a positive and inclusive work ethos. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with SEND, ideally as a TA. You will be a role model, mentor, and daily support to the child you will be working with, needing the ability to establish a good working relationship with pupils and staff.
The role is a full-time post starting in September 2024, working on a 1:1 basis with pupils both in and out of the classroom, closely collaborating with the teaching team as they integrate into the classroom. Pupils will have a broad range of abilities, and the school is looking for knowledgeable and supportive staff to ensure that learning progresses.
