The Trade Association for the whole UK jewellery trade is looking for a new Education Programme Manager to join the enthusiastic, innovative, and friendly team.
As Education Programme Manager you will:
1. Be an influential member of ‘Team NAJ’, supported by the Head of Education and working with the Education Co-ordinator and Education Officer to achieve success.
The salary for this role is dependent on experience. Other employee benefits include training, 23 days annual leave (plus 8 Bank Holidays) increasing to 25 days after 5 years, employer pension, insurance and one day per year to volunteer at your nominated charitable cause.

We are seeking an experienced curriculum and resource development professional with expertise in quality assurance to manage qualification updates, new resource development, workshops and short courses and to support the quality assurance process. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity and relevance of our educational offerings and ensuring that they meet the needs of our diverse student base.
You will have work experience related to qualification development, delivery and assessment in an educational setting and be well-organised with good attention to detail. You will be adept at guiding and supporting our extended team of tutors and assessors and will be professional and personable in dealings with internal and external stakeholders, including content developers, workshop and short course tutors, L&D managers and colleagues. You will demonstrate the Association’s values of Honesty, Integrity and Professionalism, and be a team player and critical friend when appropriate.
You will possess excellent communication and organisation skills, to ensure that qualification updates and new resource development are undertaken within agreed timelines and budgets and to the required standard. You will provide support to tutors and assessors and manage internal quality assurance processes, ensuring that assessment and qualification delivery is compliant with regulatory requirements and in line with industry expectations and standards. You will be able to collate, track, monitor and report on data and key performance indicators and assist with the provision of information for marketing of the NAJ Education Portfolio.
All NAJ qualifications (regulated and non-regulated) undergo cyclical review every four years. New products, such as the JET Management and Leadership qualification are developed periodically in line with market needs. We currently have two regulated and two non-regulated qualifications (jewellery product, valuation and management and leadership) enrolling a total of c. 550 students per year. We are also an approved end point assessment organisation for the L2 Retailer, L3 Retail Team Leader and L3 Jewellery, Silversmithing and Allied Trades apprenticeship. We have ambitions to expand our current trade association status to align our education and membership offerings more closely, with associated developments in training pathways and resources anticipated.

The Job Description
1. Qualification updating and learning resource development
To support NAJ qualifications review and updating processes and to ensure that high-quality learning resources are developed to meet new and emerging member and student needs.
Standard of performance is achieved when:
1. Proposals arising from the NAJ’s cyclical qualification review process are successfully implemented, including liaison with and management of module content writers, proof-readers and designers.
2. Expertise and knowledge from subject matter experts is effectively interpreted and presented to digital content experts so that they can create engaging and effective learning resources.
3. Student handbooks, education and end point assessment policies and procedures and other documentation including website publicity is regularly reviewed and updated in line with current best practice.
4. Budgets, timelines, and resources, as outlined by the Head of Education, are managed effectively.
5. Regular reports on qualification and learning resource development progress, risks, and outcomes are provided to the Head of Education.
6. Feedback from students and other stakeholders is gathered and collated and used to continuously improve learning resources.
7. Strategies are researched and implemented, in collaboration with the Education Team, to enhance the overall student experience from enrolment to graduation.
8. Student and tutor issues and enquiries are managed and responded to quickly and effectively.
2. Quality assurance (including end point assessment and regulated qualifications)
To support the internal and external quality assurance requirements for NAJ qualifications, including industry standard, regulated qualifications and end point assessment.
Standard of performance is achieved when:
1. Representative internal quality assurance samples and lists are constructed, and all documentation is checked and made ready for moderation.
2. Qualification results are checked and uploaded onto the awarding organisation and other relevant portals.
3. The assessment process is monitored to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal guidelines.
4. Feedback arising from the quality assurance process is communicated to tutors and other staff involved in the assessment process.
5. Areas for improvement in the assessment process are identified and recommendations made, as appropriate.
6. Data and documentation are collated and prepared ready for external and other audits, as appropriate e.g. ATHE Monitoring and Development checks, Ofqual Statement of Compliance.
7. Quality assurance support is provided to the NAJ Endorsed Programme scheme.
8. Administrative support is provided as required for end point assessment.
3. Day-to-day coordination of teams
To provide day-to-day co-ordination of our teams of tutors, advisers and independent assessors, including recruitment, training and support and guidance.
Standard of performance is achieved when:
1. Numbers of tutors, advisers and independent assessors are maintained and recruited at an adequate level to ensure ongoing delivery of industry standard and regulated qualifications, and end point assessment.
2. Tutors, advisers and independent assessors receive initial induction and ongoing training as appropriate.
3. Support and guidance on issues such as plagiarism and AI detection is provided.
4. Regular moderation meetings are scheduled.
5. Tutors, advisers and assessors performance is monitored and evaluated, and feedback and professional development opportunities are provided as required.
4. Data Analysis and Reporting
To collate, monitor and report on education statistics.
Standard of performance is achieved when:
1. Data including that relating to student progress, satisfaction and outcomes, are compiled and analysed.
2. Reports are compiled for the Head of Education and the Qualifications Standing Group, as required.
3. Key performance indicators related to quality assurance and student experience, are tracked and reported on.
5. Workshop and Short Course Management
To plan and oversee delivery of the NAJ’s limited programme of educational workshops and short courses.
Standard of performance is achieved when:
1. Workshops and short courses (e.g. Practical Valuation Techniques, Assessing Mounted Diamonds and JET Management and Leadership) are planned and managed effectively, with support from the Education Co-ordinator and Education Administrator.
2. Collaboration with subject matter experts happens, to ensure that curriculum and course materials meet the requirements of the target audience.
3. Logistics, including scheduling, venues, materials, and equipment are effectively managed.
4. Liaison with the Marketing Manager and contribution to marketing materials helps to ensure that workshops and short courses are effectively promoted and advertised.

Person Specification
1. Work Experience
Experience in a similar job roles e.g. previous experience in curriculum and qualification development and quality assurance.
o A minimum of three years working in an educational setting involved in the development, delivery and assessment of regulated/ non-regulated qualifications.
o Experience of managing curriculum and qualification updates and development, including creation of learning resources, policies, handbooks and consideration of the student journey.
o Familiarity with competency-based education and outcomes-based assessment.
o Experience with online learning platforms and e-learning content development.
o Experience of working in a quality assurance role in a regulated or non-regulated environment e.g. awarding organisation, end point assessment organisation, training provider.
o Experience of training and managing a team of assessors and tutors.
