About the role:
With responsibility for developing and leading a safe and robust manufacturing asset maintenance framework, the core responsibility of this role is to deliver asset reliability to support manufacturing performance. Leading operator autonomous maintenance, both mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance and a robust defect identification and workflow process with daily/weekly performance demonstrated against a suite of key performance indicators.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Ensuring above all else that the maintenance function operates in a safe and structured manner through rigorous Risk Assessment, contractor control, education, continuous improvement and relevant standards.
2. Direct line management of a team of Maintenance Technicians and apprentice development.
3. Lead and own maintenance processes and systems required by Head of Manufacturing Engineering including coordination and improvement of AM (Autonomous) and PM (Preventative Maintenance) Schedule for Bridges, Boxer and Warehouse equipment.
4. Development of existing CMMS system to drive improving trends in Maintenance KPI’s including but not limited to MTBF, MTTR, ‘Wrench time’ and Equipment Uptime.
5. Use of Analytical and Risk based decision making to ensure KNDS always has the correct critical spares to support Equipment Uptime.
6. Deliver robust inspection, planned and reactive maintenance processes and demonstrate performance through clear and transparent maintenance performance indicators communicated across the manufacturing department. Ensure PM’s are in place for ALL manufacturing assets and detailed within an active CMMS.
7. Foster a culture of continual improvement within the Maintenance Team, continually challenging departmental paradigms, where necessary lead practical problem solving and drive a ‘prevent reoccurrence’ ethos.
8. Work with manufacturing supervisor group to develop relationships and processes to support the delivery of week to month performance.
9. Review and improve quality / suitability of executed tasks and monitor contractor performance and action accordingly.
10. Identify and organise delivery of departmental training ensuring competency through robust development plans for team members.
11. Support Head of Manufacturing Engineering in the departmental processes to include CMMS, Annual CAPEX forecast, Budget Development, Contractor Management and Performance Management.
12. Plan workload and manning required to support major repairs, capital acquisition and associated project work.
13. Preparation of RFQ’s Contract Review and Risk Management.
What we’re looking for:
Applications from candidates who can demonstrate the following requirements will be considered, however, if you do not meet all the requirements, please explain why you are suitable for the position:
1. Candidates should be from a background of either a time served multiskilled Engineer or Engineering / Maintenance supervision.
2. Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, LOTO, PUWER, OSHA etc.
3. History of delivery Capital Expenditure programmes.
4. Practical knowledge of working with and developing Computerised Maintenance Management systems (CMMS).
5. Practical knowledge of what constitutes safe contractor control.
6. Experience working with heavy and light machining and fabrication.
7. BS 7671 18th Edition certification would be advantageous but not essential.
8. Knowledge of Agility (CMMS) advantageous.
9. Demonstrated ability to liaise professionally at all levels within and outside the organisation.
10. Self-motivated.
11. Proven Man Management history with track record in people development.
