Position: Housing Engagement Worker Pay: £13.30 per hour - £25,935.00 per annum Location: YMCA Norfolk Norwich sites Contract Type: Permanent Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week YMCA Norfolk is seeking compassionate and dedicated support workers to join our Norwich housing teams in transforming the lives of young people and families. As a Housing Engagement Worker, you'll be the go-to person for our clients, helping them navigate their journey to independence. You'll create a safe, supportive environment and plan fun, positive activities. Your role will involve assessing needs, developing support plans, and facilitating life skills development. Key Responsibilities: Client Support: Process referrals, assess needs, and create support plans. You'll induct clients into the housing service, complete necessary paperwork, and ensure they understand their rights and responsibilities. Life Skills: Teach essential skills like cooking, shopping, hygiene, and basic home maintenance. You'll organise educational and vocational workshops and training sessions. Community Building: Plan and prepare clients for independent living or other support services. You'll actively participate in registering clients for local authority and housing association move-on agreements. Tenancy Support: Help clients understand their tenancy agreements, manage their finances, and maximize their income. You'll address antisocial behaviour through restorative meetings and support income recovery efforts. Crisis Management: Respond to emergencies and support clients in crisis situations, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being. What you’ll need to succeed Skills: You'll have great communication skills and the ability to demonstrate emotional stability and resilience when under pressure. Ability to undertake needs and risk assessments, and implement restorative procedures. Experience: You'll have worked with vulnerable people in housing or support settings. Experience in needs and risk assessment and support planning. Knowledge: Housing legislation and safeguarding practices. Familiarity with the benefits system is a plus.
