As a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the scalability, security, and reliability of our AWS environments, while driving automation and best practices. You’ll be responsible for architecting, configuring, and supporting cloud infrastructure that supports high-impact applications for one of the world’s leading automotive technology companies.
What You’ll Do:
In this role, you’ll leverage your deep technical expertise to enhance the performance, availability, and security of our AWS Cloud environments. You’ll work with a collaborative team to tackle complex issues, automate processes, and implement scalable, resilient cloud solutions. Your work will be key in optimizing infrastructure, improving cost-efficiency, and ensuring smooth operations across development, testing, and production environments.
Your main responsibilities will include:
* Designing and implementing scalable, secure, and resilient solutions in AWS Cloud.
* Leading the architecture and build process for cloud infrastructure across Development, Test, and Production environments.
* Driving automation initiatives with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform.
* Troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure issues related to cloud services, containers, and application performance.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Solution Architects, and Development teams) to ensure continuous improvement and meet performance and security SLAs.
* Managing AWS cloud services including EC2, Lambda, ECS, EKS, S3, VPC, and more.
* Optimizing cloud infrastructure for performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
* Mentoring and coaching junior engineers, promoting a culture of best practices and continuous learning.
* Ensuring compliance with global data legislation and IT security policies in partnership with security teams.
* Providing BAU (Business-As-Usual) support for critical incidents and after-hours troubleshooting when necessary.
* Contributing to the evolution of cloud platform operations, continuously enhancing processes and workflows to drive efficiency and scalability.
What We’re Looking For:
To succeed in this role, you should have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in cloud platforms, ideally in a DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering capacity. If you’re passionate about AWS and enjoy collaborating with teams to deliver cutting-edge cloud solutions, this is the role for you.
Key qualifications and skills include:
* 5+ years’ experience in Cloud Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles.
* A degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
* In-depth knowledge of AWS services including EC2, Lambda, ECS, EKS, S3, VPC, Route 53, API Gateway, and RDS.
* Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, ECR, ECS, EKS).
* Strong skills in Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and YAML.
* Proficiency with automation scripting (Bash, Lambda, Node.js).
* Experience in system administration on Linux (Debian) and LAMP architecture.
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions).
* Strong troubleshooting skills for cloud infrastructure and application performance.
* Knowledge of cloud security, compliance, and identity management.
* Experience with monitoring and observability tools (New Relic, Splunk).
* A continuous improvement mindset and a desire to optimize systems for security, performance, and cost.
Desirable Skills:
* AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).
* Proficiency with SQL, including writing and reading queries.
* Familiarity with GraphQL and encryption technologies (SSL/TLS).
* Experience with Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) practices.

Location:
This role is based in the UK and offers flexibility with remote working options. Onsite engagement will be required occasionally.
