Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an experienced midwife for the post of Midwifery Lead for Tobacco Dependency, joining our small, motivated team. Working across UHSussex Trust sites, the successful post holder will be integral to delivering the Maternity Smoke Free Pregnancy pathway in our hospitals and achieving element one of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle. They will also support the Inpatients Lead for Tobacco Dependency to deliver the Inpatients Services as per the NHS Long Term plan. All pregnant people who smoke are given an opt out referral to our service and offered tobacco treatment and support. You will work with colleagues and stakeholders throughout the Trust and with system partners to deliver the programme in line with the national requirements and the Integrated Care Board's local objectives. The post holder will manage a trust-wide team of Health Improvement Advisors for Tobacco Dependency, working closely with Maternity colleagues to support patients and their families. The post holder will be key in leading by example to embed a Smoke Free culture across UHSussex sites. We are looking for an enthusiastic qualified midwife, who is passionate about health promotion and health behaviour change, to enable our patients to treat their tobacco dependency throughout pregnancy or following an admission to our hospitals. The service is a key part of achieving the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle Version 3 and the NHS Long Term Plan. Main duties of the job This role will deliver the key aims of the Tobacco Dependency Programme as per the NHS Long Term Plan and the Saving Babies Lives bundle by delivering Tobacco Dependency Treatment programmes in both Maternity and Acute Inpatient settings. Working as part of a team to cover all sites across University Hospitals Sussex Foundation Trust, this post will have a focus on maternity patients whilst working closely in partnership with the Tobacco Dependency Inpatient Lead, with an expectation for cross-cover between the roles and shared line management responsibility for a team of Health Improvement Advisors for Tobacco Dependency. You will have extensive line management experience, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and experience of training and facilitation.
