Job Advertisement: Bookkeeping Assistant

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Bookkeeping Assistant to join a well-established accountancy and business advisory firm based in Shepperton, Surrey. This is a fully office-based role, ideal for individuals starting their bookkeeping career or currently studying towards Level 2 or Level 3 AAT qualifications.
Position Details:
* Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
* Location: Shepperton, Surrey, with occasional travel to the West Horsley branch
* Salary: £30,000 – £34,000 (dependent on experience)
Important Note on Location & Transport
While Shepperton is not in a rural area, public transport options are limited, so having a valid driving licence and access to a car would be highly beneficial for a more convenient commute. This is a fully office-based role with occasional travel required to the West Horsley branch.

Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate financial records for a variety of clients, ensuring all data is correctly recorded and up-to-date.
* Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts and VAT returns.
* Perform data entry, bank reconciliations, and ledger maintenance to uphold financial accuracy.
* Communicate with clients to gather necessary financial information, fostering trust and long-term relationships.
* Embrace new bookkeeping processes and technologies to improve efficiency and support practice growth.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Qualifications: Currently studying towards Level 2 or Level 3 AAT qualifications, or equivalent.
* Experience: Some prior experience in a bookkeeping or accounting environment is beneficial but not essential.
* Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with bookkeeping software such as Xero and Sage; proficiency in MS Excel.
* Communication & Organisation: Excellent communication and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.

* Driving Licence: Having a valid driving licence and access to a car is highly advantageous given the limited public transport options.
