The Role The Contract Manager will oversee all subcontractor activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Responsible for the entire subcontractor lifecycle, you will ensure alignment with contractual agreements, quality expectations, and safety standards. Key duties include conducting audits and site visits, managing risks, and developing contingency plans to minimize disruptions. Acting as the primary liaison between the company and subcontractors, you will maintain effective communication and coordinate with internal teams to align subcontractor efforts with business goals. You will also draft, negotiate, and manage subcontractor agreements, monitor budgets, and approve payments, ensuring cost efficiency and financial accountability. This role is crucial to supporting Wessex Internet’s mission of delivering high-quality telecom solutions to rural communities Responsibilities Oversee all subcontractor activities including the onboarding and in-flight work. Ensuring all work carried out aligns with contractual agreement, timeline and meets expected standard. Ensuring all sub-contractors are adhering to the Wessex Internet Health & Safety policy. Any accidents & near misses are recorded appropriately. Track and evaluate subcontractor performance through regular audits and site visits. Ensuring projects are likely to meet their deadlines. Identifying any areas that need improvement and ensuring the correct action is taken. Identify potential risks associated with subcontractor activities and have contingency strategies in place to manage disputes and avoid disruptions. Acting as the main point of contact between the company and any subcontractors, creating effective communication. Liaising with relevant internal teams to align subcontractor activities with expectations. Draft, negotiate, and manage subcontractor agreements, ensuring clarity on scope, deliverables, and expectations. Monitor adherence to terms, including payment schedules, service level agreements (SLAs), and variations. Monitor subcontractor costs to ensure projects remain within budget. Provide regular reports on expenditure and cost-saving opportunities. Approval of payments for subcontractors. Requirements 5 years experience in managing subcontractors or similar based roles. Previous Telecommunications or utilities background (Essential) Experience in street works working environment and an in-depth knowledge of New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
